i drove the truck out to weatherford last night and picked up a 1978 351W out of an LTD. the plan is to tear it down, throw away the heavy stock iron heads and intake manifold, ill be transfering the heads and carburetor from my current setup, find a new intake, and i've already bought a new cam. i'll also be freshening up the motor, and replacing the pistons with forged pieces, the rods that it came with are "football head" rods which are incredibly strong, they should be good to a solid 600 horsepower.
not sure how soon this will go in the car, i will still have to buy pistons, intake, headers, and a custom oil pan. pics will come on the teardown.

Hi all, here's the deal, my neighbor has a 16yo. son, he is a real good kid, and way smarter than I was at his age. Seeing as his dad is not a car guy and he desperately want to be one, I've taken him under my wing and am teaching him the little I know about cars. Today and tomorrow we will be working on the Mark VII's, doing a power steering rack and struts on one and pulling the motor on the other.

I would like to surprise him with a treat, since the only car he has been in with "power" was his friends acura, I'd like to ask a local USAmustangs member to swing by and take him for a ride in a serious street car. I think it will make his day, and keep him pointed in the right direction as far as building a firm and unwavering love for American muscle.

I live in Denton really close to Mr.Frosty's, If anyone can help call or text me.

Thanks

interested in a one of a kind car? then this car is for you.
I bought this car nearly stock in february with the exception that it had 3.73 gears, and kevlar posi trac kit. the mileage on the odometer then was around 160k, the mileage now is around 185k or so, that may seem like alot, but the odometer is off, due to the gears, and never corrected, the speedometer is off as well, the guy i bought this car from bought it in 2002, and put the gears on it in 2003, so it was obviously broken in, and then racked up alot of miles that way. If i were to guess the realy mileage of the car would be any where from 130k-150k, just by the way it adds miles to it from just a little bit of putting around town.
I have a little over 7k in the car, and that does not include instalation, and painting, as i did all of this myself (my dad owns clydes auto, and i work for him as a part time mechanic.) if i were to pay some one to do these things, i would have over 10k in the car... which is about what im sellig the car for.
I know the book on a 2000 mustang gt is only about 5k or so, give or take, but like i previously stated, i have over 7k in mods alone, so 5+7=12, which is more then what im even asking, if you take into concideration the market price of a 2000 gt, its aroud 7k or so, and again 7+7=14, which is way more then what im selling the car for.. if a dealer were to sell this car, they would probly start around 16k or so, and go down from there... esentialy, im selling my car, at market price, plus only half of the total value of the mods.
the car is an automatic (4r70w) and i did a fluid, and filter change about a week after i bought it, also added hurst hot shift to it, for better harder shifts, as soon as i bought the car, i also drained, and flushed every other imaginable fluid the car had in it, and replaced it with new fluids.
performance mods:
off road x pipe
magnaflow catback, but magnapacks replaced with forty series flow masters.
frpp 3.73 gears
kevlar posi trac/ carbon ceramic clutch pack
mac differential girdle
stack racing strut tower brace (not currently installed)
stack racing throttle body spacer.
the guy i bought it from said it had a shift kit, and was tuned with a hand held tuner, but i realy cant vouch for that, as i wasnt show a reciept for them, and you cant tell if it has a shift kit, even when the transmission pan is removed.
cosmetic mods:
03 cobra front bumper
03 cobra rear bumper
03 cobra side skirts
03 cobra side scoops
03 cobra heat extractor hood
03 cobra fog lights, and fog light bezels
03 cobra heat extractor vent grilles
color matched mirrors
saleen s281 rear spoiler
pollished, not brushed 03 cobra rims
eibach pro kit springs (not installed yet.)
dealer installed sunroof, its electic, not manual, and from what my dealer friends have told me, its realy rare to see.. as ford never installed a sunroof on this particular body style, and most dealers installed manual sunroofs.
procar sportsman racing seats, by scat.
01-04 headlights
stack racing black billet fuel door.
tires have about 75% of tread left on them, and are nitto nt555r's, which arnt cheap tires by any means.
now, for the "mystic black" paint job, it is completely 100% custom, ford never made a mystic black paint job, they have only produced mystic, and mystic chrome cobras, which are extremely rare.
the color pays ommage to those, and true blue cars, which are also extremely rare, there isnt another mustang on the road that looks like this, or sounds like this.
the color is esentially just a hight gloss black with a small amount of metallic and blue pearl mixed in, then a large amount of blue pearl added to the clear. sounds easy, but its a bit tricky to spray in event coats.
please text me if your interested, my number is 2108547096. I will most likely not answer strange numbers during the day, but please leave a voice mail if you decide to call.
here are some pictures of the car after paint, obviously not everything was installed then and i still need to install the fog light bezels, as well as the eibach springs, and strut tower brace, the only thing i havent bought was the cobra chin spoiler, which i didnt feal like spending 200+ for a piece of felmsy plastic thats hardly noticable.
will send more pictures upon request.

Well, I'm spending this evening sitting around watching the the winds slowly pick up as I listen to "Drama Queen" Jim Cantorri and the weather channel try to make me feel like a twit for staying in MY home with the impending disaster looming. Granted I'm about 40 miles north of him but still in OBX Dare county and so far almost no rain. But we did make the normal preps: Canned food, water, lamps and oil, and, very important, moved the 'Stangs to a vacant lot with no trees.
So, I'll let ya know how bad it really got come the morning, unless of course we lose power. Hey, at least my neighborhood is on the tv once again!

Cheers from Manteo, NC on the beautiful, maybe storm ravaged Outer Banks!

Hello all!

It's time for the September ROTM!!

We have a good list of nominees as usual. Take a good look at each nominee and cast your vote. This poll ends in 3 days. Good luck to all.

Due to feedback from members...we are changing up the ROTM process. We are randomly picking three nominees to choose from. All you have to do now, is just place your vote for who you would like to see win September ROTM.
Directions: From the North take I-45 0r I-35 South to Beltline Rd. From I-35 turn left (going East) on Beltline to Ferris Rd and turn right the hangar will be on the left. From I-45 turn right onto Beltline(going West) on Beltline and turn left onto Ferris Rd. the hangar is on the left. First entrance will be for the car show. Rare WWII aircraft, military vehicles and memorabilia will be on display. Every year we have an open house to honor veterans of all wars and to raise money so we can maintain, in flying condition, the airplanes used in defending our freedom. We consider these planes to be National Treasures, as there are very few of these planes left. Some of which are the only flying examples left in the world. There will be several WWII aircraft from around the area on display along with our own aircraft. In the past years we have had these planes come out: P-51D Mustang, A6M2 Zero (replica), A-26 Invader, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell, Hawker Sea Fury, FG-1D (F4U-1) Corsair (made famous by Greg "Pappy" Boyington and the Black Sheep Squadron),R4D-6S (father of the modern day submarine hunters like the P3 Orion), plus some trainers like the PT-17 Stearman,BT-15 "Vultee Vibrator" AT-6 "Texan" PT-26 along with some Cold War aircraft like a Russian Hind Mi24 helicopter (believed to be only 1 of 8 in the U.S.) Mi2, L-29 and L-39 Trainers. This year there is a possibility of a B-24A Liberator (one of only 2 flying and the oldest having being accepted in May 1941) along with a Mig 21 and Mig 23 making an appearance Info: Col.

Well, I can't really believe I did it. I traded in my the Red Baron yesterday for this. The dealer had it listed as a 2008 Mustang GT convertible but I think it's a bit more than that. It's one owner with 27k on it. 4.6 /w 5spd, has a Hurst shortthrow shifter, all the power goodies and shaker stereo. Wheels are 18in. with 50 series tires and Ford Racing strut brace. The suspension is wicked tight too! The cobra emblem and GT350 is what has me wondering. Did I get lucky for 23k? Pics below.
